Christmases have changed a lot over the years, my brother and I no longer race to the tree to see what Santa has left us undue the tree, rather we often wait until mid-morning or even the afternoon before we even think of opening presents. The mornings are a lot different too, after my grandmother on my mom’s side passed away the hustle and bustle on Christmas morning of getting ready to head to her house or gather a large group for Christmas Day stopped. Instead it has been replaced with relaxing and leisurely mornings spent with my immediate family at my parent’s house. Both were fun, but definitely different vibes. Now we sip coffee and chat together, while my dad and I make breakfast for everyone. In recent years, it has become a tradition to have waffles or pancakes decorated like Santa for Christmas breakfast.
Blueberries or Chocolate Chips
To assemble, place your pancake or waffle on a plate, add two blueberries or chocolate chips for the eyes and a few for the mouth, use a strawberry tip for the nose, place sliced strawberries at the top to form the hat and finish it off with a whipped cream beard and trim for the hat.
Olive loves our Christmas tradition too, she definitely gets a few pieces of waffle or pancake topped with whipped cream. We can’t wait to celebrate our first Christmas with Captain Parm this year and introduce him to all of our traditions!
