A Playhouse for the Doodles

Last Spring I bought a home with a lovely backyard, it was at the top of my must-haves list because Olive and Captain needed a place to play. Living in the Washington DC Metro Area the real estate market is crazy, so trying to find a home that checks even one thing off of your must-haves list is a small miracle. When my realtor and I finally visited the listing that would become my home I barely gave a second glance at the interior, instead I looked out the dining room window, saw the backyard and exclaimed “SOLD!”

I moved in and immediately started looking for an adorable dog house for my backyard. I had always wanted one and never had the space. Now that I had the space I began the search for the dog house of my dreams! However, I was extremely disappointed in the dog house offerings. I found a cute DIY version, but it would have been made entirely out of wood and been difficult to move. So I went back to searching and thought why not buy a playhouse for children instead.

Searching for playhouses was a dream, there were so many options! The BEST part was the one I loved was very affordable compared to the dog houses I had seen and was plastic, so it could withstand being left out year round, since I hadn’t planned to store it during the winter months. I purchased the Little Tykes Cape Cod Playhouse in Tan and opted not to use the stickers that were included to decorate it, I knew they would fade and get worn rather quickly with the playhouse being outside in the elements and frankly, the stickers are ugly. Instead, I used my Cricut to create house numbers. I think it turned out super cute and the doodles love to play in it!
